Details

The Diversity Institute Advisory Panel (DIAP) welcomes papers for special DIAP sessions at the 2025 American Philosophy Association (APA) meetings. A DIAP session will take place at each of the Eastern, Central, and Pacific APA meetings.

The DIAP sessions showcase current research by alumni of various Philosophy Diversity Institutes. The purpose of these sessions is threefold: 1) to give Diversity Institute Alumni the opportunity to practice presenting their research at a professional conference, 2) to provide feedback on Diversity Institute Alumni projects, and 3) to provide an opportunity to network with senior scholars in one’s area of research as well as Diversity Institute Alumni from various cohorts and programs.

Alumni from the following institutes are encouraged to submit papers for a special session:

• COMPASS Workshop at University of Michigan, Princeton, UNC Chapel Hill, or UT Austin;

• Cultivating Underrepresented Students in Philosophy (CUSP) at Penn State;

• Intelligence, Data, Ethics, And Society Summer Institute (IDEAS) at Northeastern University or UC San Diego;

• LPS (Logic and Philosophy of Science) Summer Diversity Program at UC Irvine;

• Open Doors Philosophy Academy at University of Pittsburgh;

• Philosophy in an Inclusive Key Summer Institutes (PIKSI-Rock, PIKSI-Boston, PIKSI-Logic);

• Philosophy of Law Undergraduate Summer School at Cornell (PLUSS);

• Rutgers Summer Institute for Diversity in Philosophy (SIDP);

• Summer Immersion Program in Philosophy at Brown (SIPP@Brown); and

• Summer Program for the Advancement of Women in Philosophy (SPAWP) at UC San Diego.

There will be DIAP sessions at the 2025 Eastern, Central, and Pacific APA meetings. When submitting their paper, authors will be asked to list regional preferences.

Papers should be no more than 3,000 words and prepared for anonymous review. Papers should be submitted through the Google Form (link below) by June 30, 2024. Authors will be notified of decisions by late September.

Questions can be directed to the DIAP session coordinator, Gina Lebkuecher, at [email protected].
