The Du Bois Center at Bowie State University will hold a one day symposium April 4, 2025 titled "The Civil Rights Movement and the African American Quest for Freedom” in commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act and the 57th Anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This symposium seeks to examine the efforts by African Americans to secure their rights as citizens of the United States.The conference is interdisciplinary and open to all scholars and graduate students.
