The Philosophy Department at the University of Kentucky and the Departments of Philosophy and Classics at Transylvania University are pleased to announce a Workshop in Ancient Philosophy. We invite proposals on any subject in ancient Greek and Roman philosophy, and we encourage proposals from junior scholars and works in progress. Workshop sessions will begin on Friday, March 21, and conclude Saturday, March 22, 2014.  Sessions will be held on the campuses of the University of Kentucky and Transylvania University in Lexington, KY.  The keynote speaker is Gabriel Richardson Lear of the University of Chicago.

Proposals.  Papers are allotted 30 minutes for oral presentation and should be of suitable length (about 3,500 words) to allow for a brief prepared response and open discussion.  To propose a paper, send an abstract of 300-500 words in the body of an email to eric [dot] sanday [at] uky [dot] edu under the subject line “Workshop proposal” by January 24, 2014. Provide your contact information but do not include your name or other identifying information in the abstract itself. Proposers should be prepared to deliver complete drafts to respondents by March 1.
