The major themes of the conference include situating Machiavelli within the history of political though, the tragic view of politics and conflict in the The Prince, the relationship between The Prince and the Discourses and the foundation of good orders, an the assessment of the meaning of political liberty and power in the study of Machiavelli’s ideas.
