The 37th Annual Ancient Philosophy Workshop, to be held April 4-5, 2014, in Philadelphia, PA, is being jointly hosted by the Departments of Philosophy at Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania.

Abstracts of up to 500 words, on any aspect of ancient philosophy, from the Presocratics to Late Antiquity, are invited.   Both graduate students and faculty are invited to submit proposals.


Travel Subvention:

The workshop will cover the cost of hotel accommodation for attendees whose papers are selected for presentation, and we expect to award one complete travel subvention (the GPPC travel award) to one graduate student whose paper is selected for presentation.

Please send your submission, according to the following guidelines:

Email to David Wolfsdorf ([email protected]) in a single pdf the following

items in the following order:

1. Title, abstract, and brief statement of state of paper (e.g., yet to be written, in progress, completed)

2. Brief CV with institutional affiliation, professional experience, and publications.

Write '37th Annual Ancient Philosophy Workshop Abstract Submission' in the subject line.

Submissions are due January 3.

Submissions will be peer-reviewed.

Submitters will be notified of the results February 10.

 

The event is being co-sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia Philosophy Consortium.  The organizers are David Wolfsdorf (Temple University) and Susan Sauvé Meyer (University of Pennsylvania).
