CFP: Religious Perspectives on the Good Life

Paper Submissions

We invite submissions on any topic in philosophy, with preference given to philosophy of religion, and very strong preference given to submissions that engage with the conference theme, broadly and globally construed. Please note the following submission guidelines:

  • Long abstracts (750-1000 words) are preferred.
  • Full paper submissions of no more than 3000 words are also accepted.
  • Please prepare your submission for anonymous review, as a word or pdf file, and send it to [email protected].
  • The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2025; acceptance decisions will be sent out in February.
  • There is a $500 prize for the best graduate student paper. Students wishing to have their submission considered for this prize should indicate that in their submission.

Special Plenary Panel

To encourage a more global representation of the conference theme as well as inter-religion dialogue, we also invite abstract submissions for participation in a potential plenary panel on Eastern Religious Traditions and the Good Life. Please note the following panel submission guidelines:

  • Please send an abstract (300-500 words) of what you would like to contribute to [email protected].
  • You are welcome to submit both a paper and panel proposal.
  • The deadline for submissions is January 31, 2025; acceptance decisions will be sent out in February.
  • SJSU’s Center for Comparative Philosophy has generously agreed to sponsor this panel. $250 will be awarded to each participant.

Mentoring Workshop

The SCP is running a pilot mentorship workshop at this meeting. The workshop will take place the morning of May 2 before the start of the conference. The mentors (a subset of the keynote speakers and organizers) will provide feedback and discussion on the work of 3-5 junior scholars. The workshop concludes with lunch and an advice Q&A panel that is open to all conference participants. Please note the following panel submission guidelines:

  • ‘Junior scholars’ refers to untenured scholars (including students).
  • Anyone wishing to have their submission considered for the workshop should indicate that in their submission.
