The Michael Dummett Centenary Conference will take place in Oxford over three days, from Sunday 29 June 2025 through Tuesday 1 July 2025, at Christ Church and All Souls College, and online via Zoom.
This conference will celebrate Sir Michael Dummett’s seminal contributions to philosophy, one hundred years after his birth (and thirteen and a half years since his death), and endeavour to make progress on the many issues he addressed in philosophy of logic, philosophy of language, philosophy of mathematics, metaphysics, and the history of philosophy.
In addition to thirteen invited talks, the organisers are calling for submissions for two contributed talks. We welcome proposals, especially from early career researchers, that engage with any aspect of Michael Dummett's philosophy. Contributed talks will be presented in 35-minute sessions, with 25 minutes for the talk and 10 minutes for discussions. Proposals for contributed talks should consist of an abstract of up to one page, plus acknowledgements and bibliography. These should be sent by email attachment in PDF format, with name and contact details, to the chair of the organising committee [email protected] by noon (GMT) on Wednesday 22 January 2025. Notification of the talks selected for presentation will be by Wednesday 29 January 2025.
Talks can be given in-person or via Zoom. If in person, the conference will provide accommodation for up to four nights and the two conference dinners. We are applying for funding that we hope will enable us to cover or at least help with travel expenses. Sandwich lunches and tea or coffee in morning and afternoon breaks will be provided for all registered participants.
