The Center for Cyber-Social Dynamics is delighted to invite submissions for the Workshop on Advancing Fairness in Machine Learning, a multidisciplinary platform aimed at fostering dialogue between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. This workshop seeks to explore fairness in machine learning (ML) from technical, social, legal, and philosophical perspectives, encouraging innovative and practical approaches to addressing bias and inequality in algorithmic systems.
We welcome submissions addressing diverse aspects of fairness in ML, including but not limited to:
- Algorithmic Bias and Fairness: Techniques for bias detection, mitigation, and fairness-aware learning.
- Metrics and Methodologies: Definitions of fairness, evaluation metrics, and trade-offs between fairness and accuracy.
- Ethics and Fairness: Philosophical foundations and ethical implications of fairness in ML.
- Fairness in Practice: Real-world applications and challenges in deploying fair ML systems (e.g., in healthcare, education, hiring, and criminal justice).
- Fairness Across Disciplines: Contributions from sociology, psychology, and economics to understanding and designing fair algorithms.
- Regulatory and Legal Considerations: Policy frameworks, compliance with anti-discrimination laws, and accountability in AI.
We particularly encourage contributions that bridge technical advancements with societal implications and highlight interdisciplinary collaborations.
