Conservatism as a distinctive political ideology was born out of Edmund Burke’s critique of the French revolution. Despite its significant influence in society and research, there exists no unified understanding of conservatism nor of its moral content. In this interdisciplinary workshop, scholars from various fields will gather to exchange perspectives on conservatism. The workshop aims to examine what characteristics, values, and moral principles are central to conservatism.
The workshop is the first international meeting organised as a part of the project “Conservative Climate Justice” at the Institute for Futures Studies (IFFS) in Stockholm, Sweden. You can find more details about our project and IFFS here:
https://www.iffs.se/en/research/research-projects/conservative-climate-justice-for-a-sustainable-transformation/
The first goal of this project is to investigate what are the ethical principles of conservative ideology. The findings of this workshop will be used to inform what climate actions and climate policy recommendations can find support from these principles.
