The philosophy department at the University of Nottingham is pleased to invite submissions of abstracts to the first British Society of Aesthetics and Aristotelian Society funded workshop on ‘Key Questions in Meta-Aesthetics’. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, the 10th of June at the University of Nottingham, and is part of the broader British Academy funded project, ‘Developing Meta-aesthetics’. Invited speakers to this event are Alex King (Simon Fraser University), Clotilde Torregossa (University of St Andrews), and Celia Coll (University of Nottingham).
We invite the submission of abstracts (of no more than 300 words) on any topic in meta-aesthetics, broadly construed. Abstracts should be prepared for anonymous review and emailed to Jon Robson ([email protected]) by Friday, the 28th of March, 2025.
Questions which can be construed as meta-aesthetic include:
-How do we know whether an object is of aesthetic value?
-Are statements about aesthetic value truth-apt?
