The theme of this conference is Ethics in a Changing World.  We are looking to feature papers that focus primarily on applied philosophy and ethics within the morality/philosophy of society, AI, medicine, law and related areas. Other topics in applied philosophy will also be considered. We are especially interested in papers that address, systemic inequality, and testimonial injustice either through human means, or through technology. 

This conference is open to both graduate and undergraduate students. Undergraduate papers selected will be showcased as exemplary writing. 

Subtopics may include but are not limited to:

- Misinformation/Disinformation

- Implications of recent social policy

- AI implications

- Health Ethics/(In)equality/(In)equity 

- Climate justice, systemic (in)justice

Dates: April 25th and 26th, 2025 

All times EST, (UTC-5)

Times: April 25 1:30pm-6:00pm; April 26 10:45am-5:00pm

Location: Virtual UNC Charlotte (Zoom link will be posted April 15th) 

Format:  This conference will be held completely virtually to allow everyone the opportunity to share their research without the financial limitations of physical travel. If you have accessibility concerns, please contact Brit Davis ([email protected]) to discuss potential accommodations such as captions or transcripts. We are committed to making this an inclusive event, and welcome submissions from undergraduate students at all levels of study.

Keynote Speakers:  TBA (UNC Charlotte Alumni), Dr. Evie Kendal, Senior Lecturer, Health Promotion, Swinburne University of Technology 

Paper submissions should be no more than 3,000 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography), prepared for blind review, and suitable for a 20-minute presentation with a 10-minute Q&A.

Deadline for submission is March 14th, 2025. Applicants will be contacted by March 24th.
