The Philosopher’s Stone

Interviews on Past, Present, and Future of Human Understanding

What is philosophy? How does it shape our understanding of the world alongside science? How has your own specialized field evolved, and why does it matter today? If you had one piece of philosophical wisdom to pass down, what would it be?

These questions lie at the heart of our series of interviews featuring renowned scholars from diverse philosophical and scientific backgrounds. Each conversation is divided into two parts.

In the first part, we take a broad look at philosophy itself, unpacking its core nature, purpose, and its interplay with the sciences. Here, our guests share their thoughts on philosophy’s methods, its unique contributions to human knowledge, and why it remains crucial in today’s rapidly changing world.

The second part of each interview zeroes in on the expert’s own philosophical specialization. This allows for a deeper dive into current debates, critical issues, and exciting challenges faced by contemporary philosophers, especially in relation to advancements in science and technology.

Finally, we conclude each conversation with a reflective question inspired by a famous answer from Bertrand Russell. This moment invites a more personal contemplation, exploring the inner motivations behind philosophical inquiry and its lasting influence on culture and society.
