Details

Abstract: John von Neumann was a very influential scientist: not only did he contribute to almost all branches of modern mathematics and create new fields but he also changed history after the second world war by his work in computer design and by being an advisor to the post-war military-political establishment of the U.S.A. The lecture recalls episodes from von Neumann's life and comments on the nature and significance of his work in the sciences.
