We warmly invite submissions for the conference Performing Transformation—a two-day event at TU Dresden that explores how knowledge is produced, embodied, and contested at the intersections of art, science, and technology in times of rapid societal change.
The conference aims to bring together researchers, artists, and practitioners to examine performative and collaborative research practices in the context of economic, political, cultural, ecological, and technological transformations. It seeks to explore how such upheavals provoke epistemic shifts that challenge existing power relations, identity constructions, and systems of knowledge. We invite participants to explore how the performativity and performance of knowledges—through scientific experiments, artistic interventions, or collaborative research—are enacted across disciplinary, institutional, and social boundaries.
We welcome contributions in a wide range of formats—including academic papers, performances, screenings, workshops, and other experimental presentation forms. Topics may include: algorithmic knowledge, regional transformation, epistemic disruption, artistic infrastructures, and speculative design. Please submit abstracts (max. 500 words) by June 20, 2025 via email to [email protected].
The conference is organized by the established infrastructures for artistic research at TU Dresden – a collaboration between the SchauflerLab@TU Dresden, TUDiSC, the Interactive Science Lab, the Emerging Field Societal Change and S+T+ARTS Ec(h)o, artistic residency program hosted by the Office for Academic Heritage (Kustodie). The conference is also supported in part by the Walter De Gruyter Foundation.
