CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION
South Dakota State University will be hosting an Interdisciplinary Conference on Applied Ethics, with sessions held September 19-20 and an initial evening reception on September 18. The conference welcomes scholars across fields working in applied ethics, including but not limited to medical ethics, research ethics, environmental ethics, legal ethics, professional ethics, ethics of AI, and ethics of technology.
Plenary speakers for the conference include Anita Ho (Clinical Professor at the Centre for Applied Ethics at the University of British Columbia, Associate Professor at the UCSF Bioethics Program) and Neil Fulton, Dean of the University of South Dakota School of Law.
Conference registration is $50. Undergraduate student registration is free. An update will be provided for a link for conference registration.
The conference is located in beautiful Brookings, South Dakota, a small community 45 minutes north of Sioux Falls.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Proposals may be on any topic in applied ethics, including but not limited to medical ethics, research ethics, environmental ethics, legal ethics, professional ethics, ethics of AI, and ethics of technology. We welcome papers from scholars in any field working in the area of applied ethics.
For full consideration, proposals for individual papers will consist of an anonymized abstract (500-100 words) and a separate title page which includes the title of the proposed paper, author name(s), institution, contact information for the lead author, and subject area your proposal falls under (e.g., environmental ethics; ethics of war and peace). Each paper presentation should be 20 minutes in length.
Panel proposals will include an anonymized abstract (500-1000 words) and a separate title page including the names and institutions of panelists, contact information for the panel organizer, and subject area your proposal falls under. Panels may consist of 3-5 members. Panel sessions will be 1.5 hours in length.
Undergraduate students are invited to submit abstracts for an undergraduate paper session. Undergraduate paper proposals should follow the same guidelines as those outlined for individual papers above, with the exception that the subject area listed on the title should be “undergraduate papers section.”
