Details

This workshop represents a unique opportunity to contribute to the emerging field of computational philosophy while building connections across disciplines.

What You'll Do

  • Hands-on Contribution to AI Ethics Research: The workshop's centerpiece is a collaborative annotation session where you'll help build the first large-scale dataset of philosophical arguments extracted from ethics papers. Your annotations will directly contribute to training machine learning models for automated argument mining in philosophy texts. The resulting machine-annotated dataset will be released as an open-access resource for the research community.
  • Learn and Share Cutting-Edge Research: Through lightning talks (5-7 minutes), you'll discover what your colleagues are working on in machine ethics and reasoning. Presenters are encouraged to share ongoing work, creating opportunities for feedback and collaboration.
  • Build Your Network: Connect with interdisciplinary researchers through structured discussions and informal networking sessions designed to spark new collaborations.

Workshop Organizers: Aidan Kierans, Andrew Lawrence, Kaley Rittichier, Avijit Ghosh (University of Connecticut, RIET Lab)
