Details

The Transforming Political Philosophy book series provides a valuable platform for exceptional titles that, especially in today's climate, give them the recognition they rightfully deserve. We would like to invite submissions from marginalized philosophers or proposals and/or manuscripts on marginal topics and theories. Works that provide fruitful intersections of traditional and contemporary theories as well as works that bridge Western political philosophy and other philosophies are particularly welcome. The series is open both to theoretical as well as applied political and social philosophy from all traditions and contexts. The editors and the publisher are committed to bringing the ideas of their authors from margins to center. To promote the series, we would like to invite submissions of manuscripts for a competition. While we will assess all submissions and offer contracts to those fulfilling the standards of excellence, from all submissions accepted for publication, the jury will also select the best submission to be published Open Access without any fees for the author. To enter the competition, please submit a full book proposal together with 50% of the manuscript (but at least two full chapters).

Deadline: Dec 1, 2025

The following eligibility criteria apply:

• Submissions include a full book proposal (incl. a tentative ToC) together with 50% of the manuscript (at least two full chapters).

• Submissions have to be in English.

• Submissions should not have been published in any way before; however, we accept up to 35% pre-published content in the final book as long as the rights are with the author.

Works with an applied focus on global issues, works within philosophy of disability, trans* philosophy, feminist philosophy, critical race studies, environmental justice, indigenous philosophy, Critical Theory, non-ideal theory, and ecofeminism (to name but a few) are particularly welcome.

We especially welcome submissions from non-tenured or otherwise precariously employed researchers as well as researchers working within a non-Western context.

Selection process:

All submissions will be checked for their fit with the series and then be evaluated by a jury including members of the book series’ advisory board. If successful, the authors will be asked to submit the full manuscript six months later (but no later than Oct 2026).
