SIpEIA 2026 Conference Call for Papers
Ethics for AI: Challenges, Opportunities, and Human-Centered Perspectives
Sapienza University of Rome, February 2–3, 2026
Deadline for abstract submission: October 30, 2025
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly evolving and increasingly widespread technology that significantly shapes the social, cultural, and political processes of our time. It is now evident that this transformation raises pressing ethical questions. An ethical approach to AI can serve as a crucial guide for regulation, which is becoming ever more important in this domain.
The SIpEIA 2026 Conference aims to provide a multidisciplinary forum for discussing the ethical implications of AI, avoiding both alarmist perspectives and technological determinism. The primary goal of the conference is to promote a critical and constructive perspective that supports the development of intelligent technologies within a human-centered vision. This perspective aligns with SIpEIA’s mission to foster ethical and regulatory debate around AI.
Conference Themes
The conference will be organized into thematic panels. Each presentation will be allocated 15 minutes. We welcome proposals addressing the following areas of interest (though interdisciplinary approaches outside this list will also be considered):
-
AI geopolitics and regulation: policies and normative frameworks for responsible development.
-
AI and human rights: fairness, gender issues, inclusivity, and accessibility.
-
AI and philosophy: epistemological and ontological reflections.
-
AI and law: legal implications of AI, liability for automated decisions, and regulation of intellectual property.
-
Social implications of AI: the role of AI in transforming communities, human relationships, and the psychological dimensions of such changes.
-
AI and democracy: the role of AI in political and media processes.
-
AI and creativity: how artistic production and analysis (visual arts, literature, cinema, theatre, comics, etc.) are transformed in relation to AI.
-
AI, bioethics, and the environment: contributions and challenges in addressing climate change, energy consumption, and the management of raw materials.
-
AI applications in education: innovations in learning and teaching processes across school and university settings.
-
AI applications in healthcare: transformations in models of care and health management.
