Topic: Objectification refers to the treatment of a person as an object or a thing devoid of agency, subjectivity, or autonomy. Sexual objectification can be linked to systemic inequality and violence against marginalized groups, which can reinforce structures of oppression. Feminist debates continue over how to distinguish harmful objectification from consensual expressions of sexuality and sexual desire, especially in contexts like pornography or sex work. At its core, the critique of objectification aims to affirm full humanity, agency, and moral worth.
Description: The event is planned as a one-day workshop held on 29.11.2025 (Saturday). Our aim is to host the event in hybrid format in order to ensure broader accessibility. We would like to cover the travel expenses and the costs for accommodation for the invited speakers from other universities who come to Vienna to present in person.
