Higher-order metaphysics is a growing movement at the intersection of metaphysics and philosophical logic. It is characterized by the use of higher-order formal languages in philosophical theorizing—typically in metaphysics, but with important applications in the philosophy of language and mind.
Since 2016, a series of workshops have provided a dedicated venue for philosophers working in higher-order metaphysics to share their research and engage with a wider community. Supported by the New York Institute of Philosophy, HOMeWork 8 will continue this tradition at New York University on November 15–16, 2025 (Saturday—Sunday).
