About APSA
The Asian Philosophy of Science Association (APSA) invites scholars, students, and friends of philosophy of science to its Inaugural Biennial Conference, APSA26, to be held at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore from 22-24 July 2026. Anchored in APSA’s mission to advance research and teaching across Asia, the meeting is designed to spark dialogue and collaboration within the region and to connect Asian perspectives with the global community. Across three days, the conference will highlight work spanning the breadth of philosophy of science. In keeping with APSA’s goals, the program places special emphasis on bringing together scholars based in Asia and supporting the next generation of researchers.

Call for Papers
The Asian Philosophy of Science Association invites submissions for its inaugural biennial conference, APSA26, to be held at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore on 22-24 July 2026. The keynote speaker will be Prof. Craig Callender (UCSD).
The conference will feature contributed talks covering all subfields of the philosophy of science and will bring together philosophers of science from Asia and overseas. To highlight, especially, the works of early career scholars from or based in Asia, we are instituting the APSA Early Career Essay Prize. The winner of the essay prize will be given the opportunity to present their work at an hour-long plenary session, will have their paper published in and will also receive up to SGD2500 to cover their travel expenses.
A limited number of APSA travel grants, of up to SGD1000 each, will also be available to early career scholars, with priority given to those from or based in Asia, in temporary positions, and who are either graduate students or ≤ 5 years from their PhD. The APSA26 Program Committee, headed by Eugene Y. S. Chua (NTU), will strive for quality, inclusivity, and diversity in the program. Selected papers will be included in APSA26: Selected Papers, an edited volume to be published by Springer as part of the Asian Studies in the Philosophy of Science.
Submission
Submissions of proposals for contributed papers to be presented at the conference must contain a short abstract (max. 150 words) as well as an extended abstract (max. 1000 words).
The short abstract must be copied or typed into the short abstract field in Oxford Abstracts (https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/79846/submitter). The short abstract will be used for assigning reviewers. Please choose a subject category (broadly construed) which best describes your submission. This will help us find reviewers with the appropriate background for your submission.
The extended abstract must be copied or typed into the extended abstract field in Oxford Abstracts. The extended abstract serves as the basis for the review.
Please check at least one of the two available categories for your presentation. If you check both, your submission will only be considered for the Lightning Poster Presentation in case of non-acceptance as an Oral Presentation.
We invite submissions in any of the following two categories:
- Oral Presentations
The allocated time for delivering an Oral Presentation at the conference will be 30 minutes, including discussion. Presenters are expected to be present in person at the conference.
- Lightning Poster Presentations
We invite contributions of posters, which will be presented in a Lightning Poster Presentation session. Posters can be submitted either specifically for the poster session or as a second option for papers that are also submitted as contributed talks. Lightning Poster Presentations comprise two components:
- A 5 minute presentation with no Q&A, in the Lightning Presentation session immediately preceding the Poster Session. This is a platform for you to advertise the key ideas of your poster to the audience.
- A poster presentation, to be given during the Poster Session in the conference. Space will be allocated ahead of time for poster presenters to set up their posters.
Guidelines and Rules
The deadline for all submissions is by 31 December 2025, 11.59pm GMT+8 (SGT). All submissions should be made through Oxford Abstracts (https://app.oxfordabstracts.com/stages/79846/submitter).
Authors can simultaneously make one submission for each of the two categories (Oral Presentation or Lightning Poster Presentation), but any author can appear on the program only once as a presenter.
For co-authored contribution, only one presenter of the paper or poster must be chosen and identified as such in Oxford Abstracts. Accordingly, authors presenting at APSA26 may also appear as co-authors of other papers that are part of the program, but not as first author/presenter.
Decisions on the acceptance of submissions will be made by the end of March 2026.
