The Third Biennial Conference on Expression, Language, and Music (ELM3) will bring together researchers from linguistics, philosophy, cognitive science, music theory, dance theory, anthropology, and neurobiology with the aim of integrating recent findings and insights from diverse perspectives concerning the significance of expression in music, dance, and language, the importance of systematic structure in these domains, and the interrelations between expressive, musical, and communicative capacities and their relevance for understanding music cognition and language and their emergence in ontogeny and phylogeny.

We welcome abstracts on topics including but not limited to: expression of emotions through speech, gesture, dance, and music, evolution of communication, meaning and structure in language and music, music cognition, psychology/neuroscience of speech perception/production, and philosophy of music. The abstract should be suitable for presentation to an interdisciplinary audience.

Abstract Guidelines:

·Please submit two separate documents: a Long abstract and a short abstract.

·Long abstracts should be in US letter format (8.5" x 11" - not A4), with 1-inch margins on all sides, and in Arial 11 point fontThe long abstract text may be no longer than one page; an additional page for figures, tables, other graphics and/or references may be included.

·Authors also need to create a seperate short abstract (no longer than 100 words).

·Submit only PDFs.

·Your submission should be prepared for a double-blind review, i.e. both abstracts should not mention the author(s) names and affiliations.
