Details
This Colloquium is derived from the collaboration between the Seminar "Sigillum" and the Seminar "De philosophia in vulgare", and aims to reflect on the origin and development of thought (philosophia) in the vernacular language (13th-17th centuries), paying attention to works that, even as a literary genre, convey philosophical and hermetic, scientific and political contents, by authors such as Lully, Dante, Bruno, Ghiberti, Guicciardini, Machiavelli, Pico, Montaigne, Descartes, Pascal, and in the Spanish language, such as the humanist Alonso de Castrillo and the New Spanish 'alumbrada' Ana de Zayas. Understanding philosophia here in the manner of Isidore of Seville or Domingo Gundisalvo: the knowledge of natural or divine matters, attainable by the human faculty.
