Who Speaks for Whom? – Identity Politics, Wokeness, and the Question of “We”
Reading and Discussion with Prof. Dr. Rieger-Ladich
November 20, 2025, 6:00–7:30 PM

Few terms are as polarizing today as “identity politics.” For some, it stands for legitimate demands for recognition and participation; for others, it symbolizes division, hypersensitivity, or cancel culture.

In his new book Identity Politics, Prof. Dr. Rieger-Ladich explores the philosophical foundations and societal misunderstandings surrounding this debate. His talk asks: What lies behind the term? Why does it trigger such strong reactions—and what might a renewed, emancipatory form of identity politics look like?
