The durational performance BIRDWATCHING explores the question of how humans can come out before the dead: For six hours, the performer seeks different answers to this question. Drawing on texts by Robin Wall Kimmerer, bell hooks, and Paul B. Preciado, the performance unfolds through encounter. It takes moss ten minutes to transform from a dry, almost dead state into a green, living state. The one-on-one moments with the audience last ten minutes, during which the performer meets the audience, listens together with them, waters the moss, and dares a moment of transformation.
