The Philosophy of the City Research Group is a global community of scholars dedicated to understanding the city and urban affairs. You are invited to our thirteenth annual conference. Presentations on any philosophical issue about cities are welcome.  Some topics include:

Housing crisis and homes

Heritage, architecture, and current/future needs

Local governance, urban policy, and practice

Tourism, touristic cities, and over-tourism

Conceptualizing cities

Infrastructure

Sustainability

Resilience

Urban aesthetics

The city and economics

Urban technologies; challenges/promises of AI

Food and the city

Urban mobility and transportation

The city in philosophy’s history

City life and culture

Public and common space

Examining specific cities

Urban expansion and the nonhuman world

For individual submissions, provide abstracts of about 300 words. For panels of 3-4 (90 minutes presentation time and Q and A), send the panel’s title and a 400-500 word abstract describing each presentation, along with each presenter’s name and affiliation (if any) to [email protected].

Deadline: March 1, 2026. Notifications: Before March 30.

We are pleased to offer a Graduate Student Presentation Award of 300 USD to be given at the concluding ceremony. To be eligible, include “Submission Award Eligible” in the title of your email for consideration.
