Details

The department of philosophy at McGill is excited to announce its first annual graduate conference, to be held on March 19th and 20th, 2026. We welcome abstract submissions in any area of philosophy from current MA or PhD graduate students.

On day one of the conference, we'll have an afternoon keynote by Professor Daniel Weinstock (McGill University, Law and Philosophy), followed by an evening reception with light snacks and beverages. On day two, we'll have presentations from the invited grad student speakers, each followed by short commentary from a McGill philosophy grad student. Presentations should be no longer than 30 minutes, leaving roughly 5 minutes for commentary and 25 minutes for Q&A.

Submission quidelines:

  1. An abstract of 750 words max. (not including any references)
  2. Anonymized for blind peer review
  3. Submitted in PDF format to [email protected]
  4. Title the PDF file itself as follows: "MGPC_2026_Title of Your Paper"
  5. In the body of your email, please also include the following information: (a) your full name (pronouns optional); (b) instutitional affiliation(s); (c) paper title; (d) contact email; (e) note whether you identify as a member of an underrepresented group in philosophy; (f) note whether you wish to be considered for a travel stipend, which will be made available to graduate students on a case by case basis.

All presentations will be in person at McGill's campus in the downtown core of Montreal. While co-authored submissions are allowed, submitting a co-authored abstract prevents both co-authors from submitting their own single authored papers.

Submission deadline: December 31st, 2025.

Notification of results: January 31st, 2026.

Date of conference: March 19th and 20th, 2026.
