Details

The department of philosophy at the University of Chicago is excited to announce its first annual graduate conference, to be held on May 9th, 2026. We welcome abstract submissions in all areas of philosophy from current MA or PhD students.

The conference will begin with a keynote address by Keren Gorodeisky (Auburn University), and will be followed by the graduate student presentations. Presentations should be roughly 30 minutes in length. After each presentation, a University of Chicago PhD student will offer brief comments on the talk, leading into a general Q&A session with the conference attendees. For those accepted, we ask that you be prepared to send a copy of your presentation at least a week before the conference, so that our respondents may have ample time to prepare their comments beforehand.

Submission guidelines:

1) The abstract should not exceed 750 words and should be prepared for anonymous review

2) In a separate document, please include the following information: (a) the title of your paper, (b) your full-name, and (c) your institutional affiliation

3) Both documents must be submitted in either .pdf or .docx format to: [email protected]

If you do not receive a confirmation email within 5 days of submitting your abstract, please send a follow-up email, asking to confirm that your submission was received. This will ensure that all submissions are given consideration. The deadline for submissions is March 6th, and notification of results will be announced in mid-to-late March

Note: At this time, we are unable to offer reimbursements for the cost of accommodations and/or travel for those invited to present. We will, however, cover the cost of lunch during the conference, as well as a post-conference dinner, for all who presented. Although we are unable to cover the cost of a hotel, we will be more than glad to help those invited find accommodations during their stay.
