Mutual Interactions:  Second Singapore Workshop on Integrated History and Philosophy of Science in Practice

Science as we know it today grew out of the work of natural philosophers such as Descartes and Newton, and science itself has deeply influenced the subsequent development of philosophy in the work of philosophers such as Hume, Leibniz, and Kant, and later in the 20th century in the work of Russell, Carnap, and others.  The general theme of this workshop is on such influences between science and philosophy and the importance of such mutual interactions in shaping both science and philosophy today. 

The aim of this workshop is to bring together the growing community of researchers in the history and philosophy of science and philosophy of science in practice in Singapore and to promote further interactions between researchers in Singapore and the international community.  There will be approximately 8 Singapore based speakers and we have 5 more slots open for international speakers.   We are able to cover accommodation for 3 nights in Singapore and contribute up to SGD 900 towards flights from Asia, up to SGD 1,500 towards flights from Australia and up to SGD 2,500 towards flights from elsewhere.  In addition there are limited funds available to help to defray the cost of childcare arrangements.

We welcome submissions of abstracts of papers suitable for 20-25 minute presentations with 10-15 minutes of discussion time.  We would particularly like to encourage junior scholars and scholars from Asia or Australasia to consider submitting abstracts.
