The graduate students of the Philosophy department at the University at Albany are pleased to announce the 2026 Graduate Philosophy Conference, to be held in person on April 11th, 2026, in Albany, New York. The theme of the conference is AI and Emotions, broadly construed. We welcome submissions that consider various topics in AI, as well as submissions that consider the philosophy of emotions, and are open to interdisciplinary approaches that converge on these topics.

Potential Topics Include (but are not limited to):

·      AI and bias

·      AI and law

·      AI and art

·      AI and emotions

·      AI and well-being

·      AI and consciousness

·      AI and the mind

·      AI and ethics

·      Philosophy of Emotion

Papers should be suitable for a 30-minute presentation (approximately 3,000-4,000 words).

Keynote Speaker

The keynote speaker will be Cameron Domenico Kirk-Giannini (Rutgers University-Newark)

Submission Guidelines

  • Eligibility:
    Submissions are open to current graduate students in philosophy, or related fields. Co-authored papers are welcome, provided that all authors are current graduate students in philosophy.
  • Paper Length:
    • 3000-4,000, excluding abstract and references
  • Abstract:
    • Maximum 300 words
  • Format:
    • docx, or pdf
  • Submissions must be prepared for anonymous review                                             

What to Submit:

1. An anonymized pdf or docx containing:

·      Paper title

·      Abstract (≤300 words)

·      Full paper

2.   A separate cover page including:

·      Author name(s)

·      Paper title

·      Institutional affiliation

·      Contact information

Submission & Notification Timeline
