Professor Peter Singer will be giving a talk in London next Wednesday evening.

Full details can be seen at:
www.meetup.com/Effe... and www.facebook.com/event...

Time:
7.30pm on 4 June
Venue:

B5 Auditorium, Franklin-Wilkins Building, King's College London Waterloo Campus, Stamford Street, London, SE1 8WA
Ticketing issues:
The venue at KCL requires a reasonably accurate guest list of all non-KCL attendees to be sent to them 72 hours in advance. For this reason the talk's organisers have set up an Eventbrite page at http://eventbrite.co.uk/event/11763193027 so if you would like to go, please add your name there by 6pm Sunday.
KCL students do not need to add their name to the list; they just need their KCL card. Other people who have not signed up in advance will have to sign in at the door on the day and KCL security maintain a right to refuse entry.
The talk:

A talk by renowned Princeton professor Peter Singer on Effective Altruism.
Peter Singer is one of the best-known living philosophers, known particularly for his writings on animal rights and global poverty.
He is a figurehead of the Effective Altruism movement. Effective Altruism is applying evidence, reason and rationality to the goal of making the world a better place. This could be by giving to the most cost-effective charities, volunteering with the most high-impact organisations, thinking critically about what causes to support, choosing a career in a way that maximizes impact and so on.

After giving his talk, Peter Singer has kindly agreed to be interviewed on stage by Dr Anja Steinbauer of Philosophy Now magazine.

This event is being organised by Effective Altruism (effective-altruism.com) and Giving What We Can: London (givingwhatwecan.org), with the support of (among others) Philosophy For All and Philosophy Now magazine. Peter Singer's charitable organisation The Life You Can Save is at: http://www.thelifeyoucansave.org
