We are pleased to announce the third annual Maryland Philosophy Conference (MPC). The conference will be hosted by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Towson University (Towson, MD) and will take place on Friday, October 23, 2026. This event aims to provide a welcoming venue for philosophers to present their work and engage with other scholars. Faculty (full-time or part-time), graduate students, and independent scholars are invited to participate. The conference is free and open to the public.

Conference participants will have 25 minutes to present their work, followed by 10 minutes for questions. Abstracts should be 500 words or fewer, include a title, and contain no identifying information. Panel proposals are also welcome. Panels should consist of three or four presenters and must include: (1) a panel abstract (up to 500 words) that identifies the session’s theme, and explains the relationship among the papers; and (2) individual abstracts for each presentation, prepared in accordance with the anonymization guidelines above.

In addition to your abstract or panel proposal, please submit a separate document that includes the following: your name, paper title, institutional affiliation (if any), and a brief bio (if a panel – for all presenters). Please also indicate your paper’s/panel’s primary area: ethics; social and political philosophy; philosophy of religion; non-Western philosophy; history of philosophy; metaphysics; epistemology; or philosophy of language.
