Details

The Midterm Conference is the second main event of the Project JUSTLA – Justice in the XXI Century: A Perspective from Latin America (HORIZON-MSCA-2023-Staff Exchanges 101183054). The initial conference of the JUSTLA Project, titled “Justice in the XXI Century: New Challenges, New Directions of Inquiry”, was held at the University of Catania, from February 25–27, 2026.

The project now continues with its Midterm Conference, this time at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Instituto de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas (IFCH), São Paulo, Brazil, from November 24 to 27, 2026.

The conference is organized in partnership with the National Institute of Science and Technology for Studies on the United States - INCT-INEU, the Program of Political Science at the University of Campinas (Unicamp), and the projects Crossing Boundaries: Migration and the Shaping of Global Political Theory (FAPESP, Grant No. 2024/12506-0) and Embedding Justice: New Frameworks of Social and Climate Justice in Contemporary Political Theory (FAPESP Grant No. 2025/09557-5).

The conference is designed not only as a space for presenting ongoing research but also as a platform for building a shared research agenda across political theory, political science, international relations, law, and related fields. Its central objective is to advance a collective reflection on the limits of inherited paradigms of justice and to formulate new conceptual, methodological, and political tools for understanding the democratic possibilities of the present.
