The masterclass will be led by Lesley Brown, and will focus on a discussion of texts in preparation for her Keeling lecture, 'Agreement and Truth in Plato' (March 15th). The topic of the seminar will be 'Charting Agreement in Plato', and will investigate some or all of: agreement as convention (Republic 2, Cratylus), agreement as consensus (Republic 4), agreement in dialectic and dialogue (Gorgias), and agreement in mathematics (Republic 7). The masterclass will be followed by a supper for all participants.

There is no registration fee for the masterclass, although registration is necessary and there will be a limit on the seminar size. In addition, a small number of bursaries, covering accommodation for the 14th of March and return economy train fare, will be made available for students travelling from outside London in thr UK who have no recourse to institutional funding.

Students wishing to secure a place at the seminar are asked to contact the organiser, Fiona Leigh (UCL), at [email protected]  Those also wishing to apply for a bursary will be supplied with an application form (should the number of applicants exceed the number of bursaries, they will be awarded on the basis of relevance to the student's research project).
