Im Zentrum der dreitägigen Konferenz steht eine drängende kulturpolitische und philosophische Fragestellung: Wer verfügt über die Anwendung künstlerischer Arbeiten und wozu werden Künste benutzt? Es geht um die Ambitionen von Kunstschaffenden, mit ihren Arbeiten in soziale und gesellschaftliche Situationen einzugreifen. Demgegenüber steht ein wachsender, externer z.B. politischer und ökonomischer Verfügungs- und Instrumentalisierungsdruck. Wie hängen beide zusammen?

At the heart of this three-day conference lies a pressing cultural-political and philosophical question: Who has control over the use of artistic works, and for what purposes are the arts used? On the one hand, the focus is on artists’ ambitions to intervene in social and societal situations through their work. On the other hand, there is growing external pressure—for example, political and economic—to control and instrumentalize art. How are these two aspects connected?
