In the aftermath of Kant’s Critiques, post-Kantian thinkers engaged with many issues brought to the fore by his critical philosophy that have lost none of their appeal and pertinence: among them are the situatedness of the human subject, the nature of thought, the problem of facticity, the relationship between nature and mind, and the trilemma between freedom, determinism, and intelligible fatalism. If anything, these matters have become more pressing in recent years: environmental catastrophe, unfettered exploitation and oppression, and the loss of privacy and autonomy to algorithmic information processing lend them renewed force. The 1st London/Bristol Post-Kantianism Workshop is designed as the inaugural event of a workshop series bringing together junior and senior researchers from both cities working on these rich issues in post-Kantian thought.
