We are pleased to announce the 2027 WCU Philosophy Graduate Conference, organized and hosted by the graduate students of the Philosophy Department at West Chester University.

Theme: Philosophy Beyond Thought

Keynote Speaker: Professor Macalester Bell, Bryn Mawr University

Date: Friday, April 9th, 2027

Description: Philosophy is more than its reputation for abstract pontification. Humans are philosophical creatures, and we encounter philosophy in our daily thoughts, questions, and activities. For many, it feels as if the world has been plunged into chaos and the nature of our problems (and by extension, the solutions to these problems) often feel beyond our reach. Join us for the annual Philosophy Graduate Conference where we attempt to elucidate and respond to this chaos with our theme: Philosophy Beyond Thought.

Submission Requirements: If you are interested in presenting at the conference, please submit any papers related to defining and/or addressing tangible real-world issues. This may include injustice in any form (social, legal, environmental, etc.), human and animal rights, sustainability, race relations, political paralysis, ways of protest, freedom and surveillance, everyday action, and so on.

Preferred word count: 250 words for abstracts and 5,000-8,000 words for articles. Please include name, contact information, and institutional affiliation.

Submit Abstracts or Papers to: [email protected], Tiera Danheux

Deadline for Submission: Friday, February 19th, 2027

RSVP For Speakers Due: Friday, March 5th, 2027
