LEAGUE OF AFRICAN WOMEN PHILOSOPHERS (LAWP)

THIRD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2027

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

THEME: Women in African Endogenous Knowledge Systems: Philosophical Perspectives on Theories, Concepts, and Institutions

CONCEPT NOTE:

African Endogenous Knowledge Systems are the living, plural ways African communities understand personhood, health, land, governance, education and spirituality. Women have been central to producing, preserving and transforming this knowledge as healers, farmers, educators and custodians of culture, yet their contributions are often dismissed as merely “domestic” or “informal”. This conference recovers women’s knowledge of philosophy as theory, ethics and institutions, and interrogates its place in contemporary debates on decoloniality, sustainability and justice.
