Grief matters to everyone. It is a fundamental, universal experience in response to bereavement and non-bereavement losses, but it affects different people in different ways. Although philosophical research on grief has gained momentum in recent years, the experiences of many people remain neglected. This workshop will focus on the diversity and complexity of grief, with particular attention to the grief of people living under conditions of marginalisation.
This is the second of three workshops funded by the ARC Discovery Project 'Grief at the Margins: Conceptualising the Diversity of Loss' (DP260100985; Fabry, Hughes, Stendera and Millar). The project aims to characterise the diversity and variability of grief experiences, generating new knowledge and providing theoretical foundations for more inclusive and sensitive grief interventions.
Bringing together leading and emerging scholars working in the philosophy of grief, this event will explore the heterogeneous ways in which grief manifests in lived experience.
