Details

This is the inaugural Norwegian Congress of Philosophy

The aim of the congress is to bring together philosophers from universities and colleges in Norway—and, equally importantly, from other countries!—to present and discuss their research.

For details of our plenary speakers and sections chairs, see below. There will also be a number of contributed talks (see our Call for Abstracts).

The languages of the congress are English and Scandinavian languages. The keynotes and the presentations by the section chairs will be in English. Contributed talks may be in English or a Scandianvian language.

A complementary aim of the congress is to highlight and promote the role of philosophy in higher education and citizenship more broadly—a role it plays, for instance, through courses such as Examen Philosophicum, a common module in Norwegian higher education. Although the primary aim of the congress is the presentation and discussion of philosophical research, there will also be a session dedicated to this societal role of the discipline.

• Herman Cappelen (Hong Kong)

• Antti Kauppinen (Helsinki)

• Susan Schneider (Florida International)
