This symposium invites scholars to re-examine the notion of the “margin” in relation to translation across theoretical, historical, methodological, and empirical dimensions, assessing how marginality informs, challenges, and redefines the discipline and practice of translation. At the same time, the symposium also seeks to open discussions about the very notion of “margin”, its significance, and whether conventional ideas and locations of “the marginal” must be reassessed in light of current global transformations.
