We invite submissions of abstracts for a workshop on the metaphysics of normativity in Vienna, Austria, from May 27-29, 2027. Please submit abstracts (of 500-1000 words, and prepared for anonymous review) to [email protected] by January 31, 2027.
About the workshop/topic:
This workshop will bring together philosophers working on the metphysics of normativity for three days of talks and discussion in Vienna, Austria.
We're interested in providing a forum for new work in analytic philosophy on the nature and structure of morality and other normative domains. (Think: do normative facts supervene on non-normative facts? Is there anything to be said about the authority of normativity/morality based on the metaphysics of the normative? What are the best metaphysical tools to formulate substantive versions of metaethical positions? What do explanations or grounds or essences of normative facts/properties look like? And so on -- including traditional questions in metaethics regarding e.g., the existence or mind-independence of normative facts.)
Some of our talks will be from invited speakers (Harjit Bhogal, Rach Cosker-Rowland, Stephanie Leary, Tristram McPherson, Pekka Värynen, and Robbie Williams). Some will be selected via this CFP.
Please email the organizers (Javad Hajialikhani, Yannic Kappes, and Audrey Powers) with any questions.
