WORKSHOP – Epistemic and Practical Normativity: Explanatory Connections

Friday 16th January 2015
University of Southampton

Philosophy at Southampton will host the second workshop of the AHRC-funded ‘Normativity: Epistemic and Practical’ project on Friday the 16th January 2015.

The workshop will focus on explanatory connections between epistemic and practical normativity. For instance, are epistemic norms (reasons, oughts, requirements) grounded in practical norms, or vice-versa? Are practical and epistemic norms different species of a single genus? In what way, if any, are epistemic and practical norms unified?

Speakers

Ulrike Heuer (Leeds)
Daniel Star (Boston University)
Asbjørn Steglich-Peterson (Aarhus)
Kurt Sylvan (Southampton)
