FACTS & NORMS
WORKSHOP
27-28 August 2015
Department of Political Science
University of Copenhagen
The relationship between facts and norms remains a contested issue. A dominant view is that the studies of facts and norms are entirely separate. However, recently, some theorists have tried to bring the two closer together through exploring non-ideal and realist accounts of political theory. Yet others have argued that normative studies should be suitably contextualized relative to empirical facts.
The workshop provides a venue for these discussions by asking questions such as: What role do facts play in political theory? What role do norms play in the empirical sciences? The workshop is a follow-up event to the Facts & Norms Conference, University of Copenhagen, August 2013.
