The Penn Ancient Workshop (PAW) invites paper proposals for twenty-minute presentations (followed by twenty-minute discussions) on Lucretius’ On the Nature of Things (De rerum natura). The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.

Proposals should deal with some philosophical aspect of Lucretius’ poem. We welcome a range of methodological approaches and encourage participation from scholars in related disciplines.

Please submit proposals by January 1, 2016 to [email protected]The proposals (of no more than 500 words) should be formatted for blind review and sent as an attachment (word document or pdf). Please include contact information and institutional affiliation in the body of your email. Acceptance notices will be sent out by February 1, 2016 at the latest.  

Upon acceptance of proposals, participants must submit their full papers (of about 3000 words) by April 1, 2016.
