Centre for Phenomenological Studies in association with the Department of Philosophy, Loyola College organizes a conference on Life-world and Consciousness from 3 to 5 March 2016 at Loyola College, Chennai. Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi, sponsors the conference. 

Centre for Phenomenological Studies encourages the application of phenomenological method to specific areas in Humanities and Social Sciences. We are looking for those who share our dedication to theoretical, methodical and practical application of the notion of Life-world to the themes of the conference. The key themes are: Life-world and Religious Consciousness, Life-world and Subaltern Consciousness, Life-world and Ecological Consciousness, Life-world and Technological Consciousness, Life-world and Cultural Consciousness, Life-world and Literature, and Life-world and Gender Identity.

We welcome submissions from faculty members as well as doctoral researchers who are working in the area of Phenomenology. Scholars who wish to participate in the proposed conference need to register themselves for the conference in the conference website(www.phenomenology.in) and submit an abstract of the paper (500 words) by 15 December 2015 by email to: [email protected]

Acceptance of the abstract depends on the extent of the application of the phenomenological methodology to the above mentioned key themes. The conference committee will review the abstract. Invitation to the conference is conditional to the acceptance of the abstract. Selected participants will have to submit the full papers by 31 January 2016. They will be paid travel (by train) and local hospitality by the organizers of the conference.
