CFP: Workshop on the philosophy of Kit Fine

As part of the third biennial Edgington Lectures at Birkbeck College, University of London, given by Kit Fine, there will be graduate workshop devoted to all aspects of Kit Fine's philosophy.  Professor Fine will be present at the workshop itself.

We therefore invite papers by graduate students and recent graduates (less than 1 year since completing graduate study) on any aspect of Professor Fine's work, including but not limited to:

  • the metaphysics and logic of grounding
  • essences and modality
  • realism and anti-realism
  • necessity and possibility

4th March, 2016.  (Please note that this is the deadline for submissions to the workshop.  The registration deadline for attendance at the workshop and lectures is later.)

Submission Instructions

  • Papers should be no more than 3,000 words (including footnotes, excluding bibliography), suitable for a 30 minute presentation.
  • Papers should be prepared for blind refereeing.
  • Submissions should include a cover-sheet including: paper title, abstract, author name, institutional affiliation, and student status.
  • Papers should be saved in .pdf or .doc format.
  • Send all submissions to: [email protected]

It is hoped that the selectors will make and communicate decisions by 11th March.  In selecting papers, consideration may be given to overall balance of areas covered in the workshop.
