Details

This conference is intended for an academic audience working or interested in philosophy of science in the broadest possible sense. Every three years, the Dutch Society for the Philosophy of Science (DSPS; in Dutch: Nederlandse Vereniging voor Wetenschapsfilosofie, NVWF), organises this interational conference. The original idea was to collect everybody in one place who is active in this area of philosophy at an academic level (PhD-students, professors, lecturers, readers, post-docs) in the Netherlands and Flanders and retreat in a forest.

Besides these plenary lectures, there will be parallell sessions for contributed speakers with talks lasting 45 minutes including Q&A (no more than two parallel sessions at every time). Everyone can submit a contribution.

The first edition of Philosophy of Science in a Forest, Spring 2010, was the first having English as the conference language. Contributions in the Dutch language remain however possible. Contributions from all over the world are now very welcome. Warning: there are no travel funds available.

Deadline for submissions: Sunday 13 March 2016. Submit to: [email protected]: one PDF with: title, abstract of about 400 words, branch of philosophy of science (general, biology, physics, economics, etc.), name and affiliation. Name your file as follows: InitialsLastName-PSF2016.pdf .

The organisation committee (F.A. Muller (chair), M.J. Boumans, J.M. Sprenger) will select the best submissions. At the latest of 1 April 2016, you will be informed about the decision of this committee. The full programme will then soon be made available, around half of April 2016.

The conference site, Kaap Doon, is easily reachable by public transport from Utrecht, a major hub in the center of the Netherlands. Check https://9292.nl/en# for more information.

The conference is a typical on-site conference with all meals and refreshments included. Don't be shocked by the registration fees---you get value for money and you can choose from different packages, too. You need to register via the link below.
