Details

The purpose of this conference is to examine the meaning of conceptualization of religious experience in epistemology as a whole. The primary question to be posed is: Could the notions and metaphors carved out by authors involved in philosophy of religion or by religious thinkers serve outside their original contexts, e.g. to expand the terminology of traditional epistemology?

The main research area is set by two modes of thought: the Russian philosophical and religious renaissance and the revival which took place in 20th century Jewish philosophy. Both these modes share a re-examination of their own religious traditions to inspire creation of new philosophical concepts. A transformation in the role of religious experience and its conceptualization in philosophy took place in the first decades of the 20th century thanks to this inspiration. A similar move may also be found in other modes, such as the neotomist revival, 20th century protestant philosophy and the achievements of philosophizing religious studies.

We are very pleased to invite scholars interested in the philosophy of religion and epistemology. Each of the areas mentioned above may be subject to research and reflection for potential conference participants.

Abstracts (up to 1 000characters) should be sent to [email protected] by February 15th, 2016.

The € 95 (PLN 400) conference fee covers administrative costs, conference materials publication, meals, and accommodation during the event.

The conference will be held in Polish, English and Russian.
