Details

The Northwest Student Philosophy Conference (NWSPC) is organized by undergraduate students and aims to showcase the philosophical research of undergraduate, graduate and professional philosophers.  In the last several years, we have been privileged to host Heather Demerest (2015), Alex Guerrero (2014), Meghan Sullivan (2013), Carrie Jenkins and Jonathan Ichikawa (2012) Kris McDaniel (2011), Ben Bradley, Shieva Kleinschmidt, and Laurie Paul (2010), Kit Fine (2009), Michael Rea (2009), Dean Zimmerman (2008) and Jonathan Schaffer (2007) as keynote and guest speakers. The keynote speaker for this year’s NWSPC will be Heather Battaly.

All students—undergraduate or graduate—are invited to submit papers.  Entrance is fairly competitive, as we have only 6-8 open slots for student presentations, but this should not discourage interested applicants.

Submissions to the 15th Annual NWSPC should adhere to the following stipulations:

1.     Papers should be of philosophical content, and may be on any philosophical topic

2.     Papers should be at least 2,000 words in length, but no more than 15,000

3.     Papers should combine research and original insight

Please prepare submissions for blind review.

The deadline for submissions is April 1st, 2016.

Applicants will be notified of our decisions by April 11th, 2016.

All submissions should be emailed to Ryan Wasserman at [email protected]

Please contact Dee Payton at [email protected] for further information.
